Commercial projects demand fire-rated wall systems, acoustic separation, NCC compliance, and tight coordination with multiple trades working to a programme. The wrong contractor costs builders time and money — callbacks, cracked joints, board sitting out of spec, and a painter who can't work with what you've handed them.
At Crafted Up, commercial plasterboard is our core trade. We install and flush Gyprock, Knauf, USG Boral and CSR systems for builders, fitout contractors and project managers across the Perth metropolitan area. Every board is fixed to pattern, every joint flushed to Level 4, every project documented on Fieldwire from first fix to PC.

Flushing Levels Explained.
The level of finish determines how smooth the plasterboard surface needs to be, based on how it'll be decorated and how exposed it is to critical lighting. Specifying the right level up front saves arguments at handover.
Level 3 Finish
Tape embedded, joints coated once. Suitable for areas receiving heavy wall coverings or textured paint only.
Level 4 Finish
The commercial standard. Tape and joints coated twice, sanded smooth. Suitable for flat and low-sheen paints. Default on most Crafted Up jobs.
Level 5 Finish
Level 4 plus a skim coat across the entire surface. Required for gloss paints or critical lighting conditions. Available on request.
Square Set & Shadow Line
Squareset junctions between wall and ceiling, or shadowline details for modern architectural fitouts. Precision work, done clean.

Commercial Plasterboard Common Questions.
What's the difference between commercial and residential plasterboard work?
Commercial plasterboard work is fundamentally different. Commercial projects require fire-rated wall systems, acoustic separation to tested assemblies, NCC compliance, coordination with multiple trades on tight programmes, and usually higher finish standards. Residential plasterboard is mostly single-layer standard board with cornice. Hiring a residential contractor for a commercial fitout is one of the fastest ways to blow a programme.
What plasterboard brands do you install?
We install Gyprock, Knauf, CSR, and USG Boral systems as standard. We have trade accounts with all of them and choose the right system based on what's specified on the drawings, the performance requirements, and what the builder or specifier has nominated. We don't sub in cheaper off-brand board to save a few dollars — what's specified is what goes up.
Do you handle the taping and flushing too?
Yes. Taping and flushing is done in-house, not sub-subbed out to a separate flusher. Level 4 is our standard — joints taped, two coats feathered, sanded smooth, ready for paint. Level 5 (full skim coat) available on request for gloss paint or critical lighting applications.
Can you install fire-rated plasterboard assemblies?
Yes — 30, 60, 90 and 120 minute FRL wall and ceiling systems using the correct board type (Fyrchek, Fireshield), fixing patterns, and assembly details from the tested system documentation. Every fire-rated assembly is installed to BCA / NCC compliance. SWMS and install details available on request.
What level of finish should I specify?
For most commercial fitouts, Level 4 is the right call — it suits flat and low-sheen paints and is the industry standard. Level 3 is only suitable for textured paint or heavy wall coverings. Level 5 (a full skim coat) is only needed for gloss finishes or walls exposed to critical raking light. If you're not sure, specify Level 4 and you'll be right 95% of the time.
How much does commercial plasterboard cost in Perth?
It varies with board type, single vs double layer, ceiling height, fire and acoustic requirements, and access. As a rough guide, a basic single-layer 10mm standard wall lining flushed to Level 4 is typically $55–75/m² supplied and installed. Fire-rated double-layer assemblies can run $95–140/m² or more depending on the FRL and complexity. Send us the drawings for an actual price within 24 hours.
Do you supply and install, or install only?
Both. We can supply and install turn-key, or install client-supplied materials if the builder is procuring direct from Westgyp, Gyprock or another merchant. Either way, the install quality is the same.
Do you work across all of Perth metro?
Yes — all 30 Perth metropolitan LGAs, from Yanchep to Mandurah, Fremantle to Mundaring. We're based in Sinagra and travel across the whole metro area for commercial work.
